HelpAI providers and connections
Connectors (external integrations)
Describes monthlet 1.0.1.
Open Settings (⚙) → the “Connectors” tab to manage Connectors, which let Chat use external services such as Google Sheets or Calendar.
Press Connect on the Google Sheets and Calendar card and your browser opens Google’s sign-in and permission screen. Once you approve, you return to monthlet and the card shows the connected account (email address).
- After connecting, give Chat a spreadsheet URL (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/... ) or ID and it can read the sheet structure (tab names, row and column counts) and the cells. You can then ask things like “summarise the sales by month”.
- Reading only. monthlet never changes your spreadsheet. There is also no way to list which spreadsheets exist, so tell it the URL or ID each time.
- Disconnect revokes and discards the stored permission. Chat can no longer use it until you connect again.
- Once connected, that service’s actions (for example, reading a sheet or listing events) become available from Chat.
- Each connector can be turned on or off, and you can see the list of actions it provides.
- Actions that write, send, or delete ask for confirmation before running (an approval gate), just like note operations. Read-only actions run without confirmation.
- "Add custom MCP" registers an MCP server you provide. Enter an ID (it prefixes the operation names), a display name, and a connection (a command or a URL). Saving tests the connection right away; on success the operations it offers are listed on the card.
- For command-based servers, an absolute path to the executable is the reliable choice. Write one argument per line (for example the folders the server may access). Environment variable values and HTTP headers are stored encrypted on this device, not in the vault.
- The server starts when one of its operations is actually called, not when you open a note. It stops automatically after 10 minutes of inactivity and starts again on the next call.
- Each operation has a checkbox. Operations you turn off are not passed to the AI, so turning off ones you never use keeps things lean.
- Only operations declared read-only run without confirmation. Everything else — including operations with no declaration, and any operation that talks to the outside world — shows a confirmation dialog first, even when it only reads. This confirmation is separate from auto-approving vault operations, so it always appears regardless of that setting. Operations of a server started by a command always ask for confirmation, even when declared read-only, and the dialog shows the command that will run. Connections not registered on this device — from a vault someone else created, or registered in an earlier version — can’t be used until you press “Refresh” on the connector in Settings and check the command or URL. Saved headers, environment variables, and authorization are sent only to the connection they were registered for.
- Press "Refresh" to pick up operations the server has added or removed.
- If a server registered by URL requires authentication, saving opens your browser to ask for permission. After you allow it, you return to monthlet and it authenticates automatically from then on. If the authorization expires, press "Refresh" to sign in again.
- Open a spreadsheet document, then "…" → "Import" → "Import from Google Sheets" to bring a Google spreadsheet in as a monthlet spreadsheet document. Paste the URL and a list of the sheets appears; tick the ones you want (you can pick several — if the URL carries a #gid, that sheet alone starts out selected). For the import location, choose "Create a new spreadsheet" (a new document appears in the same folder, with the selected sheets gathered into it) or "Insert sheets into the current spreadsheet" (they are appended to the document you have open; ⌘Z undoes it). All values are copied in (the original is never modified, and the document does not stay in sync afterwards).
- Google Calendar comes with the same Google card. Once connected, Chat can list your calendars, read events for a given time range, and create events. Creating an event asks for confirmation first (it shows what, when, and which calendar).
- You can also start from the calendar. Hover a date in the calendar (month / week / day), or use "Import this day's events into the Daily Note" in the day view, and the chat input is filled with a request for that date. It is only filled, never sent, so you can edit the date or widen it to a range before sending it yourself. It appears only when Daily Note is enabled.
- Events you bring in are written out as notes. They do not appear in monthlet's calendar view (the month/week/day display). That calendar links dates to notes; it is not a screen for laying out timed events.
- Examples: "Put today's schedule in my daily note", "Turn next week's meetings into a note", "Add up last month's meeting hours and chart it", "Put this meeting on my calendar for Aug 20 at 2pm".
- If you connected only Google Sheets before, the card says "Some permissions are missing. Please connect again." because the calendar permission is missing. The card still shows "Connected: " with your account, but the button reads "Connect" — there is no "Disconnect" button, so you do not need to disconnect first. Press "Connect" to grant it. Your spreadsheet operations keep working in the meantime.
- Ask Chat to "write this in today's daily note" and it writes to that day's daily note (creating it if needed). If that note is not on screen, a notice appears at the top — "Wrote to “<note>”" with an Open button — so you can open it from there. Daily notes must be enabled under Settings (⚙) → Calendar.
