HelpAI chat
Note operations from chat (create, edit, merge, move, delete)
Describes monthlet 1.0.1.
Chat can operate on any note in the vault, not just the open one. Without switching scope you can ask it to:
- Create:"Make a note about X".
- Turn a text file into a note: point at a .md / .txt / .csv / code file stored in the vault and ask "Summarize this file into a note" or "Make a note from this .md". The AI reads its contents and builds a note (asking "show me the files in the vault" first makes it reliable). Binary files like images / PDFs are not supported.
- Edit: even unopened notes, e.g. "Append Y to the X note" (the AI reads the target note first, then edits).
- Merge:"Combine these notes into one" — concatenates several notes into a new one. You choose whether to keep or delete the originals.
- Move / rename / delete:"Move X to folder Y", "Rename this note to Z", "Delete X". Move/rename/delete are destructive, so a confirmation dialog appears (unless auto-approve is on). Delete sends the note to the OS trash / Recycle Bin, so it can be restored. Auto-approval, web search, and publishing to external agents (including allowing writes) only take effect once you turn them on on this device, even if the vault’s settings file has them on. This keeps them from switching on by themselves when you open a vault someone else made. If Settings shows a note about this and you set it yourself, turn it on again.
- Pin / archive:"Pin X", "Archive X (I no longer use it)".
