HelpWriting notes
Links to notes / to a specific heading (section)
Describes monthlet 1.0.1.
You can link from a note body to another note. Select text in the body, right-click, choose "Link to note", then pick the target note.
- Link to a specific heading (section): after picking the target note, if it has headings a "section" list appears so you can pick the heading to jump to ("Whole note (top)" links to the start of the note).
- Clicking the link opens the target note and automatically scrolls to the chosen heading. Jumping to another section within the same note works the same way.
- From chat too:"Add a link to note X", "Add a link to the Y section of note X". You can also ask "Open the Y section of note X" to display that spot.
- Edit / remove a link: right-click an existing link and choose "Edit link" to re-point it (re-pick note → section), or "Remove link" to drop the link while keeping the visible text.
- Auto follow: if you rename or move the target note, links pointing to it follow automatically (the heading anchor is preserved too). Deleting the target removes the link.
- Backlinks (linked from): when you open a note, the list of other notes that link to it appears at the bottom of the body.
- Works after export: even when you open the saved .html in an external browser, the heading anchor (the #... at the end of the URL) jumps to that spot.
monthlet is free on macOS and Windows.
