Menu bar (the app menu)

The app menu bar (at the top of the screen on macOS, at the top of the window on Windows) gives access to the main actions (each item shows its keyboard shortcut).

• File: New Note (⌘N) / New Spreadsheet (⌘⇧N) / Open Vault (⌘O).
• Edit: Undo, Redo, Copy/Paste and other standard editing. When the cursor is in a text field, on macOS “Start Dictation” is also added at the bottom (speak to type).
• View: Search Notes (⌘K) / Toggle Sidebar / Toggle Chat / Reload.
• Note: Save (⌘S) / Export (PDF with ⌘P, Markdown) / Pin / Delete Note. These act on the document you currently have open.
• Help: Open Help / Report an Issue (opens the Discord community).

Menu items act on the note that is currently open, so open the target note in a tab before exporting, deleting, or pinning.

The app menu also has “Check for Updates…”, which opens the Updates tab in Settings.
