HelpWriting notes
Version history (going back to an earlier version)
Describes monthlet 1.0.1.
Each note is saved before it gets overwritten, so you can go back to an earlier version later. Unlike undo, which is lost when you close the app, version history survives a restart.
- Opening it: choose "Version history…" from the note menu (the "…" in the toolbar). Timestamps are listed on the left and a preview of that version is shown on the right.
- When versions are recorded: edits are grouped into one entry every 5 minutes by default. On top of that, the state right before an AI change, before reloading a note changed outside the app, and before restoring an earlier version is always recorded, regardless of the interval (the list shows which is which).
- Restoring: pick a version and press "Restore this version". The contents from just before the restore are also kept in history, so you can undo the restore itself.
- Deleting: remove single entries with the × in the list, or clear the whole history for that note with "Delete all". Deleting the note itself also deletes its history.
- Settings: under Settings > Vault you can turn history off, change the recording interval (1-60 minutes), and set the maximum versions per note (100 by default, up to 1000). Past that number, the oldest versions are deleted.
monthlet is free on macOS and Windows.
