Calendar view (month / week / day)

Describes monthlet 1.0.1.

The calendar view lets you browse notes by month, week, or day. In Settings → Calendar you can turn it on/off, choose its position (right panel or tab), set the date format, and pick the default view (on and right panel by default).

  • Open it: with position "Right panel" it appears on the far right of the window (if chat is also a right panel, the two are shown side by side or stacked vertically). With "Tab" a "📅 Calendar" tab appears in the note tab bar.
  • Switch month/week/day: use the Month / Week / Day buttons at the top-right of the calendar.
  • Navigate: use ‹ › to move to the previous/next month, week, or day, and "Today" to jump back to today.
  • Collapse: in panel mode, click » to collapse it (the 📅 button at the bottom-right reopens it). Use ⛶ to switch to a tab, and ❐ on the tab to switch back to a panel.
  • Rearrange (when both chat and the calendar are shown as right panels): each panel header shows two arrange buttons. The “▤ / ▥” button toggles between side by side and stacked (top/bottom); the “⇄ / ⇅” button swaps the chat and calendar positions. When stacked, drag the divider between the panels to adjust their heights, and drag the left edge of the column to adjust its width (double-click resets). The arrangement is saved and restored on the next launch.
  • Each day cell shows links to notes whose title or body contains that date (2026/06/13, 2026-06-13, 2026年6月13日 and similar are auto-detected). Click one to open the note. Month cells show a few per day and fold the rest into "+N".
  • In reference mode (editing off), dates in the body get a dotted underline; click one to switch the calendar to the day view for that date (no decoration while editing).

Using Daily Note:

  • Enable it: Settings → Calendar → turn on "Enable Daily Note" and pick a save folder (a folder inside the vault is required; without one, notes cannot be created). Clicking a folder also opens the folders inside it, so you can pick one at any depth; press "Use this folder" to confirm.
  • Create/open: switch the calendar to the day view and click the "Open this day's Daily Note" button at the top. It opens that day's note, creating it if it does not exist. In the month and week views, a "+" button appears at the top-right of each day on hover and does the same. In the month view, the day's own Daily Note is shown as a 📓 mark (its title is the same date as the cell number, so it is not repeated); a date-titled note that mentions another day appears in that day's cell in a short form like "9/6".
  • Location and title: a "YYYY/MM/" hierarchy is auto-created under the chosen folder; the file is named YYYY-MM-DD.html and the note title follows your date format (default 2026/06/14). Clicking the same day again opens the existing note — no duplicates. A date heading is added at the top of the note, and any note whose filename is YYYY-MM-DD links to the calendar even without a date in its title or body.
  • Detecting / importing existing notes: if the chosen folder already contains date-named notes, Settings shows how many were detected (.html / Markdown). Markdown daily notes (e.g. from Obsidian) can be brought in with the "Import Markdown" button — they are converted to monthlet notes (.html) and appear in the calendar via the date index.

monthlet is free on macOS and Windows.
