HelpGetting around

Basics (sidebar, tabs, blocks)

Describes monthlet 1.0.1.

The window has three columns: the sidebar (folders and note list) on the left, the main pane (open notes) in the middle, and the chat panel on the right.

  • Sidebar: switch between folders and notes. Double-click a note to open it as a tab in the main pane (a single click selects it — OS-standard). Folders: single-click to select, double-click or the caret (▶) on the left to expand/collapse.
  • Tabs: open multiple notes as tabs at once. Drag tabs to reorder; close a tab with its ×. Right-click a tab to "Close other tabs" or "Close all tabs".
  • Pinned tabs: right-click a tab and choose "Pin" to shrink it to an icon at the left; it opens again the next time you open this vault. A pinned tab cannot be closed until you choose "Unpin" from the same menu. Deleting the note or folder also unpins the tab and closes it. The gallery, calendar, chat and note map tabs can be pinned too.
  • Blocks: a note is a collection of "blocks" (headings, paragraphs, tables, callouts, and so on). Click a block to select it; the selection is shown in the status bar at the bottom. With a block selected, asking chat to e.g. "make this concise" edits just that block.
  • Status bar: at the bottom. It shows the selected block, the Settings (⚙) button, and the Help (?) button.
  • Initial setup: the setup shown on first launch (how you use AI, the notes folder, API keys, shared instructions, theme, sample notes) can be run again at any time from Settings (⚙) › General › "Initial setup". If you closed it without creating the sample notes, you can create them here.

monthlet is free on macOS and Windows.
