HelpWriting notes
Editable tables (edit a table in place)
Describes monthlet 1.0.1.
You can edit a table in the app like a spreadsheet (off by default).
- Enable: Settings (⚙) → Advanced → turn on "Enable editable tables".
- Start/finish editing: when the note is in reference mode, click a table to turn it into an editable grid in place; click outside the table to finish and return to the normal view. While the note is in edit mode, tables always stay editable grids (no separate "convert" step needed).
- What you can do: click a cell to edit it, click a column header to sort, use the toolbar "Add row / Add column" (each button has an icon). To rename a column, double-click its header and type in place. To delete a row, right-click it and choose "Delete row". To filter, click the ▽ (funnel) icon on a column header and check only the values you want to show (just like a spreadsheet filter). The ▾ menu on a column header offers "Rename column / Delete column / Group by this column / totals (Sum, Average, Min, Max)".
- CSV: the toolbar "Export CSV" saves the current table as CSV, and "Import CSV" rebuilds the table from a CSV file.
- Chart: for tables with a numeric column, the toolbar "Chart" lets you pick bar / line / pie to add a chart block built from the table, right after it. The original table stays, so you can delete either one ("Chart" is hidden for tables with no numeric column).
- Saving and sharing: edits are saved into the note. Saved .html files, external browsers, and thumbnails always show a static (read-only) table.
- Chat: the table content is readable from chat, and you can ask things like "add a row" to edit it.
monthlet is free on macOS and Windows.
